I was fortunate to two creative mornings with I. F. Cox’s grade three classes.
We tries new art techniques and worked on having a growth mindset.
The young artists were asked to reflect upon what they learned. Here are some of the very important learnings they said:
1. There are many different ways to do things.
2. Art takes time to create.
3. It is okay to make mistakes. There is always a way to fix them and we learn from our mistakes.
These are important life lessons that apply to our daily lives!
The students also showed great respect to our horses and kittens and property. The future is in good hands.

I was fortunate to have another creative morning with a second I. F. Cox’s grade three class. Mrs. Beaudoin and her assistants helped me to gently guide the students to try new techniques and to have a growth mindset.
The young artists were asked to reflect upon what they learned. Here are some of the very important learnings they said:
1. There are many different ways to do things.
2. Art takes time to create.
3. It is okay to make mistakes. There is always a way to fix them and we learn from our mistakes.

I believe art should be reflection of who you are and should be unique to you.
All students received the same instruction, but were given options, suggestions, and encouragement to do what feels good to them, resulting in truly unique art!
We focused on the sunflower, as grade threes study Ukraine.
We incorporated mathematical geometric vocabulary with art vocabulary.
Growth mindset is always a focus. We can all be artists with an open mind, a positive attitude and practise.
